Mrs. Annie Albertha Bernard passed away on February 20, 2017 in New Orleans, Louisiana, of natural causes, peacefully at her home. She was
97. She was born May 3, 1919 in Utila Bay Islands, Honduras, Central America.
She was the daughter of Vanvick Augustus James and Annie Rosa Forbes James.
She was married on October 3, 1942 to Thomas Andrew Bernard Sr.
She was a resident of New Orleans, LA.
Mrs. Annie worked many years at Baptist until she retired and she cared for husband until his death.   
She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Rosa Carlota James Morales; 8 children, Mrs. Minnie R Webb, Mr. Thomas A (Lola) Bernard Jr.; Mrs. Joannie Alcoser; Mr. Stacey H. Bernard Sr.; Mrs. Barbra P Walter; Mrs. Phyllis Barrow; Mrs. Eunice E. (John) Hacsunda; Mrs. June C. Bernard; 36 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren; 7 great, great grandchildren; and many cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.
She was predeceased by her mother, father and four brothers; Mr. Stacey (Mary) James; Mr. Dewey J. James; Mr. Osgood R. James, Mr. Tony D. (Grace) James; one sister; Mrs. Trixie Buckley; and one son; Louis A. Bernard, one grandson; Bill Bernard and a great granddaughter; Isabella Williams.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a service on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at 1:30 pm in the J. Garic Schoen Chapel of JACOB SCHOEN & SON, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, Louisiana 70119. Visitation will be from 11:30 am until the time of the service.
Rev. Timothy Ponce will be officiating.
There will be a private burial at a later date in Utila Bay Island, Honduras, Central America.
