Carole Moncada Perez, age 82 years, passed away February 21, 2017, in Memphis, TN, after a long illness. She was born on October 15, 1934 in New Orleans, LA and lived in Mobile, AL for 54 years, before moving to Memphis in 2014.   Carole lived a rich and full life surrounded by many friends. She was committed to her family, work, community activities and volunteering. She loved her work with Providence Hospital Auxiliary, Historic Mobile Preservation Society and Gray Line of Mobile. Carole served as a Eucharistic Minister at Holy Family Catholic Church and worked with the Refugee Resettlement Program and, Catholic Charities Campaign in Mobile. She had a lifelong interest in the world around her and loved to travel. Carole was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph L. Moncada and Theresa Blank Moncada; a daughter, Cynthia M Perez and a sister, Vilma M. McLaughlin. She is survived by her children, Katherine P. Baker (Patrick) of Memphis, Karen P. Leonardo (Joseph) of Tampa, FL and Donald Mark Perez (Val Webb) of Foley, AL; and five grandchildren, Kevin Baker (Noelle) of Waco, TX, Allison E. Baker of Memphis, Laura K. Baker of New York, NY, Greggory Leonardo of Chicago, IL and Matthew Leonardo of Tampa, FL. Carole is also survived by her sister, Joyce M. Delo of Gretna, LA and two brothers, Joseph Moncada (Georgia) of Pittsburg, PA and Melvin Moncada (Linda) of Lacombe, LA. She also leaves many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at the J. Garic Schoen Chapel of JACOB SCHOEN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 3827 Canal St. on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at 11:00 AM, with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM. Fr. Robert Cooper celebrant. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of usual remembrances, contributions in Carole’s name may be made to Catholic Social Services of Mobile, 118 S.
