Dorothy Dimitry Tuthill passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 15, 2017 at the age of 89 years old. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, John “Jack” Tuthill and survived by her daughter, J.C. Tuthill of New Orleans, LA, her sister, Helene Mastrovich of Lillian, AL, her cousin, Leila Binkley of Evergreen, CO, her nephew, Jack Donahue of Brockport, NY and nieces Kathleen Donahue of Mechanicville, NY, Pat Schaad (Russ) of Melbourne, FL and Kate Hannan of Ferguson, MO, her stepchildren, Clark Tuthill of Portland, OR, Susan Leidner of Selden, NY, Judy Ehlers (Richard) of Ridge, NY and James Lawrence Tuthill of Huntington Station, NY.
Dorothy was born in New York, New York and grew up on Long Island, New York. After she graduated high school, she commuted into New York City and worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) as a stenographer. In 1961, she married her husband, Jack, who was the Tournament Director of the PGA Tour, and they traveled across the country to professional golf tournaments and met wonderful friends along the way. After her husband passed away in 2005, she moved to New Orleans to be closer to her daughter.
Since Dorothy was a child, she always had a passion for reading and loved animals and always had her constant companions with her – usually a Golden Retriever and at least one cat. Her precious golden retriever, Charlie, will miss her dearly.
A special thanks to Zoe Tobias, the directors, nurses, care partners and the entire staff of Vista Shores Assisted Living who took such special care of Dorothy (“Ms. Dottie” or “Tuttie” to them).
