Felix August Gaudin, EdD, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away Saturday, January 6th, after a sudden, brief illness. He passed away peacefully with his loving wife of 64 years at his side. Born in New Orleans on May 22, 1933, he was the son of Regis Bernard Gaudin and Inez Catherine Grenier. He is survived by his wife Anne Elizabeth Tetlow (Beth), daughters Elizabeth Gaudin, Susan Gaudin Young (Chris), Patrice Gaudin Becker (Jerry), and grandchildren Colin Christopher Young, Mary Caitlin Young, Mary Elizabeth Becker, and Christian Lee Becker. He is also survived by his two brothers, Judge H. Charles Gaudin and Pierre F. (Pete) Gaudin, Sr. He was uncle to many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

Dr. Gaudin grew up in Covington, Louisiana, graduating as valedictorian from St. Paul’s High School in 1949, then graduating from Loyola University in 1954. He also received a doctorate in Education from the University of New Orleans. Dr. Gaudin spent his career teaching science on the high school and college levels. He taught at De La Salle High School for 33 years and was head of the science department for many years. He also taught at Benjamin Franklin High School and Dominican College. Dr. Gaudin received many local and national teaching awards and was named Science Teacher of the Year by the National Science Teachers Association. Dr. Gaudin was a recipient of the Order of St. Louis, past President of the Loyola Alumni Association, and co-alumnus of the year from St. Paul’s School in Covington, LA. Dr. Gaudin was also very active in the Loyola University Athletic Association. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, January 12th at 11AM at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 6363 St. Charles Avenue. Visitation will be from 9-11 at the church. Arrangements are being made through JACOB SCHOEN & SON, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to either De La Salle High School or Loyola Athletic Booster Club in memory of Dr. Gaudin.
