Martha “Pat” Kimmel was born in Sebring, Florida in October 22, 1926 to Walter and Martha Kimmel.  She had two sisters, Betty (Elizabeth) and Mary Jo.  Pat lived in Ohio, Indiana, Chicago, Arizona and finally made a geographical change to New Orleans in 1991 She lived in New Orleans until 2012, when she moved to Sulphur Springs, Texas. Pat loved the arts, politics,  and animals.  Ms. Kimmel was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church from 1992-2012. She was involved in the Lay Eucharistic Ministry Team for many years. She helped with the Opera Society house, was instrumental in the Symphony League and the League of Women’s Voters. Before Katrina,   she renovated many houses in New Orleans. Post-Katrina she was one of the early few residents to return to Uptown. She was good friends with the National Guard during that time.  That was very brave for an 80-something year old woman.
Pat Kimmel passed away August 10, 2017 at Sunny Springs Nursing Home in Sulphur Springs, Texas. She is survived by her daughter, Kate Hutley of Sulphur Springs, Texas, granddaughter, Daphne Kolb of Greenville, Texas; grandson Anthony Kolb of New Orleans and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and an infant son, James Oehlschlaeger.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church on Saturday, August 19th at 2:00 p.m.  Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m.  Please join us to celebrate her life. We will have many mementos to peruse that will highlight her storied life.  A family service will later be held in Sebring, Florida in October.
