Ronald Arthur Welsh, MD, professor emeritus of Pathology at Louisiana Medical Center, avid fisherman, gardener, bridge player, teller of jokes, and fixer of all things broken, passed away on Thursday August 10 at age 90. He is survived by children, Mary Jeanne Welsh, Ph D. (husband David Otwell), William A. Welsh, and James D. Welsh, MD (wife Sheree); four grandchildren, and brother Myron Welsh. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Mary Jeanne Duncan Welsh, daughter-in-law Donna Welsh, and his parents Leo Arthur Welsh and Octavia Franssen Welsh of Houston.
A graduate of the University of Texas on a Navy V-12 scholarship and the University of Texas Moody Medical Branch, he was a professor in the LSUMC Department of Pathology from 1956 until retirement in 2008 where he was recognized as an outstanding teacher and mentor to decades of pathology residents.
