May 22, 1930 ~ April 22, 2024 (age 93) 93 Years Old

Tribute

Stephen John Cotsoradis died at his home on April 22, 2024.  He leaves behind his two devoted children John Cotsoradis (Georgia) and Justine Cotsoradis; his three grandsons-Stephano Cotsoradis, Stavros Cotsoradis and Seth Rutman; and his sister, Antonia Kladia and his brother, George Koutsouradis.  He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Brille Cotsoradis and his brother Nicholas Koutsouradis.  Steve was born on the island of Chios, Greece to Ioannis and Iulia Koutsouradis in 1930.  Steve’s childhood on the island was full of hardship, but also mischief and adventure.  His mother was known to have to hide in the house to avoid learning of his latest exploits.   He grew up during the Second World War and witnessed the German occupation of the island.  He served in the Greek Air Force with distinction during the Greek Civil War that followed.    He left his homeland in 1952 to come to America where he pursued his education.   He expected to return home in a year or two but did not return home until 29 years later.  After arriving on Ellis Island, Steve travelled to his uncle in West Virginia.   He attended West Virginia Wesleyan College where he received a bachelor’s degree in economics.  He then travelled to Duke University in North Carolina.  He received a full scholarship to study at Duke where he obtained his master’s degree in economics.  Steve then left for Tulane at the urging of a professor who was already there.  Steve started work on his Doctorate but became distracted by his business ventures.  He founded Gulf Marine & Industrial Supplies, Inc. in 1964 and spent his days and nights growing the company.  He worked at the company until 2020.   Steve was larger than life to those closest to him and leaves behind a great void which will be hard to fill.  The family would like to extend a thanks to Grant Gouldman for his years of friendship and service to the family and Steve.   Services will be held at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 1200 Allen Toussaint Blvd, New Orleans, La on Monday, April 29, 2024.   Visitation will commence at 1pm to be followed by a service at 2pm.   In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you keep Steve and his family in your prayers.
