Antonio “Anthony” Luna, age 91, of Metairie, LA, passed away peacefully on Thursday July 15, 2021 at Heart of Hospice Care Center in Metairie, LA.
He was born to Gertrude and Mariano Antonio Luna, June 6, 1930, in New Orleans, LA. Growing up, he spent time in the country with family and developed a love and compassion for animals.
At 17 years old, he joined the Army National Guard Service and was a line cook during the Korean War.
He mastered many skills during his lifetime and was quite the handyman around the home. He set tiles in several French Quarter hotels. He was employed for over 25 years in the airline industry.
His love for cars provided an opportunity to work part-time alongside his childhood friend in his automotive business. He had a deep passion for football and enjoyed watching western movies. He was known for his beautiful, contagious smile and his optimism –“It’s all good” was his personal motto.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 47 years, Mavis Fleckinger Luna, and sisters, Marlene Acosta and Carol Luna.
He is survived by his youngest sister, Dianne F. Henrie, of Lafayette, LA, whom he adored; he was a loving father to his five children, Anthony J. Luna, Eileen A. Wilson, Ivas H. Luna, Marie Luna Noon (James) and Mary L. Luna; four wonderful grandchildren- Jason Caronna, Victor Caronna, Jr. (Amber),  Joseph Luna (Amy) and Marissa Noon, 2 great grandson twins Jaiden and Joey Luna, several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends at the community in which he resided.
