Beverly Jane DeFraites

August 21, 1926 ~ November 6, 2023 (age 97) 97 Years Old

Tribute

Beverly Ehrlicher DeFraites passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 97 years.  Beloved wife of 51 years to the late Joseph M. “Buddy” DeFraites, Jr., she was predeceased by her parents, Francis and Rosa C. Ehrlicher, and her brothers, Francis, Jr. and Lawrence Ehrlicher.  She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her six children: Joseph (Wanda), Robert (Colleen), Lawrence (Gwen), and Barbara DeFraites, Rose D. Fallon (Ken) and Ann D Alphonso (John); nine grandchildren Joseph (Jessica), Meredith, Alex (Cali), and Travis DeFraites (Moriah), Robin D. Washington, Lindsey D Perrera (Adrian), Lauren D. Estorge (Etienne), Kenny and Katherine Fallon, and, nine great-grandchildren:  Madeline, Sean, Joshua, Beatrice, Laurel, Evyn, Clover, Hart, and Lydia.  She is also survived by her sister-in-law and friend, Marilyn H. Ehrlicher, and a host of nieces and nephews. Beverly was born and raised in New Orleans; Beverly was proud of her education at Annunciation High School, where she was the youngest in her class of 1942.  She enjoyed connecting with childhood friends at many class reunions through the decades.  Beverly had a gift for building lasting friendships through her involvement in St. Louise de Marillac parish with the Mothers Club, Scouting, and Senior Citizen programs.  Always humble, she was overjoyed to receive the St. Louis award from the Archdiocese.  Much of her happiness through the years came from tagging along with her beloved “Buddy” to antique auto club events both in New Orleans and St. Bernard, always surrounded by laughter and great friends.  Beverly valued her years of employment with Klinesmith, Laudeman, and Talbot and maintained close relationships with her co-workers long after retirement.  All will miss her sweet disposition, faithfulness, and lively, intelligent wit.  The family would like to thank the Chateau de Notre Dame Skilled Care Facility staff and especially her hospice case manager, Melanie Berlier, for their kind and gentle care.
