Beverly Schmitt Rizzo

September 27, 1935 ~ July 30, 2022 (age 86)

Tribute

Beverly Ann Schmitt Rizzo departed her loving family on Saturday, July 30, 2022, after a long illness. She passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by loved ones. Throughout her illness, Beverly was strengthened by the love and support of her family, especially the devotion of her daughter Dana, who was her primary caregiver. Beverly was born in New Orleans on September 27, 1935 to Valentine and Juanita Schmitt. She spent the majority of her life in New Orleans, other than a short period in Washington, DC, where her father worked during the Great Depression. Beverly graduated from Sacred Heart High School in New Orleans and attended Southwestern Louisiana University in Lafayette before graduating from Dominican College in New Orleans.

Beverly was the wife of her dear husband John Anthony Rizzo, and mother to Marla Rizzo Wolfe and Dana Ann Rizzo. Together they raised their daughters with love and devotion and instilled in them a strong sense of their Catholic faith and integrity. Beverly’s husband preceded her in death in 1995.

For over 40 years, Beverly worked as a Realtor with Gertrude Gardner. She was known for her loyalty to her clients and her innate ability to ‘close the deal’. Beverly enjoyed numerous charitable and civic organizations across New Orleans and was rightfully proud of her contributions to them. She was humbled and honored to be appointed a Eucharistic Minister of Holy Communion at St. Pius X Catholic Church where she was a parishioner. Beverly was passionate about her service to the Church and its congregation.

Aside from the daughters she doted on, Beverly is survived by her son-in-law Richard George Wolfe; and grandsons John Talbot Wolfe and Michael George Wolfe, who called her G.G.
