Tribute

Bradley Dupont Blanchard was born November 12, 1945 in Los Angeles and passed away October 17, 2018 in New Orleans after a courageous struggle against cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents Dupont and Rosina Blanchard (Aronis). He grew up in Southern California, later living in Northern California and then settling into his true home in New Orleans. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the Air Force serving during the Vietnam War era from 1963 to 1967. Brad was a multi-talented artist. His love of music took him to Europe and Asia and led him to collaborate with musicians such as Miles Davis, Weather Report and Toto. He worked as a drum designer for internationally renowned Remo Inc. and 22 of his designs went to production. He started Blue Camp Arts. He was known as the “Tin Man” of Bay St. Louis and he specialized in writing children’s books. After Katrina, he and Suze, his business partner, participated in festivals in Louisiana, Mississippi and Connecticut. Brad loved cooking, gardening, fishing and was an avid adventurer. While the arts were his passion, his greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his best friend and life partner, “Suze “Susan Gibeault, daughter Lila Blanchard (Gustavo), son Daniel Blanchard, grandsons Nicolas and Camilo Smok Blanchard, stepmother Shirley Blanchard, brothers Brian Blanchard, Craig Blanchard, and On Blanchard, sister Teri Cain (Vincent), pets Zuma and Marzipan, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
