Clement J. Kennington passed away on May 21, 2023 at the age of 80. He was born on January 1, 1943 in Jacksonville, FL, grew up in St Louis but was a native of New Orleans, LA.

Clement J. Kennington achieved a Juris Doctor degree from Loyola University School of Law in New Orleans, Louisiana and a Masters of Law degree from Southern Methodist University. He began his legal career in 1972 with the National Labor Relations Board in New Orleans as a trial attorney and progressed to the position of Litigation Specialist. In June 1988 he was appointed as a U.S. Administrative Law Judge with the Social Security Administration. He was assigned to the Alexandria, Louisiana hearing office before transferring in 1990 to the New Orleans, Louisiana hearing office where he served with distinction. In 1997, Judge Kennington transferred to the Office of Administrative Law Judges, Department of Labor where he presided over and issued decisions involving 60 different federal laws and executive orders ranging from disability claims, enforcement actions, various OSHA whistleblower statutes and immigration appeal claims. Judge Kennington retired from active judicial service in June 2019.

Judge Kennington loved to deep sea fish, and to play tennis and golf.

He is preceded in death by his parents Henry Aquin Kennington and Mary Agnes McNaspy. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Katherine, his son McRae Patrick Kennington, his siblings Anne Marie Cole (Mike), Mary Alyce Guth (Richard), Doctor L. Joseph Kennington (Barbara) of St. Louis and Henry A. Kennington (Ivis) of Nottingham England and many nieces and nephews that he loved all very much.

The family will receive friends Friday, June 2 from 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal St, New Orleans, 70119. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 12:00 P.M. in the Gerald L. Schoen Chapel. Interment will be private.
