Corey Michael Cosse

Corey Cosse’ Sr., loving father and grandfather, passed to a greater place on April 14th, 2018, after complications due to a heart illness. He was 63. He is survived by his son Corey Jr (and Corey’s wife Shannon), his daughter Aimee, his stepson Andrew, three grandchildren - Raigen, Morghen, and Phoebe, and two step-grandchildren - Bentley, and Aubree, as well as his brother Michael, and sisters Ivy and Judith. Corey was a lifelong resident of the New Orleans area, a student of history and the military, an ardent gun owner, and a man that knew all there was to know about home construction and repair. His days were made bright by two things: smiles on his grandchildren’s faces, and selflessness in helping others. Indeed, Corey courageously saved dozens of lives in the aftermath of the catastrophic flooding caused by Hurricane Katrina, risking his own life to rescue people from roof-tops in his small boat during gale force winds and excruciating heat. Corey will be remembered by all for his welcoming smile, tremendous sense of humor, and a wonderful, kind voice that excitedly said something like, “Wassup Big Dog??!!”, but actually meant, “You are welcome in my home and how can I help you?”. Corey Cosse’ Senior, rest in peace, kind Sir - you will always be a hero.
Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service in the J. Garic Schoen Chapel of JACOB SCHOEN & SONS, 3827 Canal Street, on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at 1:30 PM. Friends may visit after 11:30 AM. Interment will be private.
