George Anthony Bouyelas, retired New Orleans police officer, passed away at home on Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at the age of 85. George was born in New Orleans and lived the past 13 years in Slidell, Louisiana. He was a graduate of Loyola University New Orleans and served in the United States Navy. He retired from the NOPD after 30 years of dedicated service. He worked another 20 years as a security supervisor for Pendleton Memorial Methodist Hospital in New Orleans. He was a parishioner of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church until 2005 and then a parishioner of St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church until his death. He was also a member of the Lay Carmelite Order of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. George is preceded in death by his parents, Nick George and Laura LaBarbera Bouyelas. He is survived by his brother Frank Bouyelas (Patricia); his sons, Gregory Bouyelas (Elizabeth), Kenneth Bouyelas, Marc Bouyelas (Evelynn) and Kelly Bouyelas (Hilary); his daughters, Andrea Bouyelas and Melissa Peoples (David); 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church, 910 Cross Gates Blvd in Slidell on Friday, April 27, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 12 Noon. A Funeral Mass will follow. Interment will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery No. 1, 5000 Canal Street in New Orleans. JACOB SCHOEN & SON in charge of the arrangements.
