Herman Adam Schroeder, Jr., 87, passed away Tuesday May 4, 2021. Born and raised in New Orleans, Mr. Schroeder was the founder of A-1 Pest Control which he ran for over 60 years. The only son of the late Herman and Alice Hillman Schroeder also from New Orleans, he had three older sisters who preceded him in death: Doris Schroeder Lowe, Elsie Schroeder Caruso, and Margaret Schroeder Joachim. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Sylvia Monnin
Schroeder with whom he was married for 48 years, and is survived by his children Sylvia Schroeder (Janice), Herman Schroeder, and Kelly Ducote; his grandchildren Dustin (Michelle) Barousse, Katie Schroeder, Aimee Schroeder, Adam Schroeder, Jacob Barousse, Carly Barousse; his great-grandchildren Trenton Barousse and Addison Barousse. Mr. Schroeder was an avid golfer and all-around sports enthusiast. He was a playground coach when his children were young, having coached all three of them in baseball, football, and softball. He loved cooking for his family get-togethers, and pies became his specialty. From the time he started his pest control business as a young man, Mr. Schroeder built a lifetime of relationships with generations of families. Private funeral services will be held.
