Janet Diamond

Janet Marie Abadie Diamond died Thursday, May 17, 2018 at the age of 89. She was born on June 25, 1928 in New Orleans, LA to the late Charles and Elise Monlezun Abadie. She is survived by her daughter, Jan Diamond Lapré of New Orleans, LA; her son, Mark Diamond (Kelly) of Irvine, CA; granddaughters Meredith Lapré and Genevieve Lapré of New Orleans, LA; Amanda Diamond of Irvine, CA; and grandsons Mark N. Diamond and Austin Diamond of Irvine, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Alfred Joseph Diamond; and her son, Richard Diamond.
Mrs. Diamond’s first language was French. She graduated from St. Mary’s Dominican High School on St. Charles Ave. and H. Sophie Newcomb College, where she was a member of Delta Zeta sorority and the Newman Club. She has been a baton twirler, ballet dancer, square dancer, school teacher, Cub Scout den mother, Brownie leader, Junior Girl Scout leader, school room mother, volunteer at the Vatican Pavilion of the 1984 New Orleans World’s Fair, parishioner at St. Frances Cabrini Church and member of the Vista Park Garden Club.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass at 12:15 pm on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at JACOB SCHOEN & SON, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA. Visitation will begin at 10:30 am. Interment will follow at Metairie Cemetery.
