Joyce attended Gentilly Terrace Elementary School, John McDonogh High School and graduated from Fortier High School in 1953. She attended Soule Secretarial School. Her first job was at Southern Shoe Company. She went on to be a secretary for Dr. Oliver Dabezies, and became the executive secretary for the Contact Lens Association of Ophthalmologists. In retirement Joyce’s true joy was volunteering at East Jefferson General Hospital at the front desk where she received the award for Volunteer of the Month. She also volunteered with Buddy at New Orleans City Park Botanical Gardens where she and Buddy were awarded the Volunteer of the Year award. Her most loved accomplishments were being a loving wife, raising her family, and the honor of receiving these two awards.  Joyce would light up any room with her sweet smile, loving personality, kindness and compassion.  Joyce loved to travel and was most excited to visit Europe and Hawaii!  Joyce never met a stranger and made friends with all she met. She welcomed everyone into her home as family. Joyce also leaves behind her loving friends from Lake Oaks Subdivision Garden Club and Neighborhood and her Canasta friends from the People’s Program. Joyce will be missed by her family and friends too numerous to mention. Joyce’s family would like to thank Buddy’s caregivers, Latricia, Lindsey, Steve, Maria, Lanare, Mary, Kim, Regina and Beverly for their love and support over the past few years.   We are looking forward to remembering our dad’s wife and our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend together.  A funeral Mass will be celebrated on December 14, 2022 at 11 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church located a 6666 Spanish Fort Blvd New Orleans, LA 70124.
