Karl-Gerhard Mueller died Thursday, July 5, 2018 with his two daughters by his side. He lived in New Orleans, LA and Poplarville, MS.
Karl-Gerhard was born March 1, 1935 in Sassnitz, Germany. His love of the sea led him to a career in shipping as a captain and then leader in international shipping companies in Germany, Canada and New Orleans where he and his family settled in 1973. When he retired, he turned his bread baking hobby into a business, Mueller’s Real Bread, which he sold at the Crescent City Farmers Market.
Karl-Gerhard was fiercely loyal, endlessly supportive, and unconditionally loving. His life was at its most fulfilled as a husband, father and grandfather. He loved his farm, annual trips to visit family in Germany and San Francisco, baking German treats, reading, a daily latte and keeping up with technology. He and his beloved wife, Jane, made and lived life on their own terms. Both Karl and Jane will be long remembered by their many friends and stories will be told about them for years.
Karl is predeceased by his wife of 47 years, Jane Rafferty Mueller. Family members include his two daughters, Anne Mueller, Eve Mueller and her husband Jamie Zirkle; three grandchildren, Max Mueller Mills, Effi Zirkle and Conrad Zirkle; Brother Burkhard Müller and his wife Sabine; his sister Christiane Fleeth; nieces and nephews and many close friends.
A memorial service will be held later this summer.
