LaVaun Tommie Moran – “All that I am or hope to be I owe to my Mother” – Abraham Lincoln. On Tuesday, August 2, 2022 our sweet Mother slipped away from us to be with our Heavenly Father and her Heavenly Family. A native of Marion County, MS. She lived and retired in New Orleans, LA after 36 years with the L & N R.R. She moved to Slidell, LA and most recently resided with her family at Oak Park Village. She was a lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She was a volunteer in any capacity needed, teaching Sunday School, Youth Group and Relief Society. She traveled to Baton Rouge regularly to do genealogy and church work for many people and enjoyed her Back Row Golden Girls Sisters. For the past five years, her family at Oak Park Village have been her life. She loved to play Bingo. She was a queen at Jinga and if they said “bus ride,” she was there. She loved to dance and sing old country music.

Mrs. Tommie is preceded in death by her first husband, Curtis Eugene Johnson and her husband of 27 years, Edgar B. Moran, Sr. Also, her son, Larry Eugene Johnson and step-son, Edgar Moran, Jr. She is survived by her two children, Delta LaVaun Moran Colley and T. Scott Moran.  In addition, she is survived by her 8 loving Grandchildren, Annie Herrin (Ronnie), Tammie LaVaun Starke (Jesse), Larry Johnson (Alisha), Kathy McLachlan (Dan), Scott Moran (Josie), Chad Moran, Camille Colley and Sarah LaVaun Colley and 8 her Great Grandchildren.

The Christian Service will be on Monday, August 8, 2022 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 112 Rue Esplanade, Slidell, LA 70461. Family visitation starts at 10:30 am with friends to follow at 11 am and the service at 12:00 pm. There will be a 1 hour reception after the service with burial to follow immediately at Napoleon Cemetery, off Highway 607 in Hancock County, MS.
