Leonard Joseph Levy

Leonard Joseph Levy, loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, friend and neighbor, passed away at the age of 77, on Saturday, January 26, 2019. He was the beloved son of the late Daisy “Dae” Maus Levy Maggiore and the late Leon Frederic Levy. He was the loving husband of the late Gaynell Di Marco Levy and father to the late Paige Levy Fuentes and is survived by daughter Lori Ann Levy. He had four grandchildren that he helped raise into talented, productive adults. Among his four grandchildren was the late Rene Fuentes, Jr. He is survived by grandsons Ryan Anthony Fuentes and Ricky Alexander Fuentes and granddaughter Rachel Alissa Fuentes. He is also survived by his great grandson Ryan Maddox Fuentes. Leonard was a great father and grandfather and a strong, caring man who had the mind of a steel trap. He was quick-witted and always ready with a one-liner that could make people laugh with him. He was smart, brave, funny and always had a great story. He was a kind neighbor who was always willing to help. Leonard served his country while in the Navy and then went on to be a sharp, devoted businessman serving as Business Agent and talented Stage Hand with I.A.T.S.E Local 39 where he enjoyed everyday that he worked building and designing sets for operas, shows and performances and directing crews for local and national trade shows. He spent the duration of his career working part-time with the New Orleans Opera Company. Leonard will be greatly missed by his family, friends, co-workers and neighbors who will remember and be grateful to have benefitted from his humor, his stories and his sage advice. Family, friends and co-workers are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at St. Francis Xavier Church located at 444 Metairie Road, Metairie, LA 70005. on Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at 1:30 pm.
