Louis Jacob Kistner III

June 11, 1951 ~ February 14, 2021 (age 69) 69 Years Old

Tribute

Louis "Louie" Jacob Kistner III, 69, passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2021 due to heart failure. He is survived by his loving sister, Karen Christine Kistner Broussard. He is also survived by his three nephews Brian P. Broussard, Christopher L. Broussard, and William P. Broussard II, great niece Emily M. Broussard and great nephew Noah W. Broussard, as well as extended family that includes Michael J. Broussard and Deborah M. Broussard and their loving children and grandchildren, and numerous cousins and lifetime friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis Jacob Kistner, Jr. and Patsy Magee Kistner.

Louie was a native of New Orleans and graduate of the Prytania Private School High School. He completed training at the New Orleans Policy Academy, finishing first in his class academically, and served the city of New Orleans for his entire career until 2005, when he retired from the New Orleans Police Department as a Lieutenant in the Fourth District on the Westbank.

Louie was an avid LSU fan, always wearing his favorite LSU hat and doing his part to support the Purple and Gold Tiger Nation.  Being a lifelong police officer for New Orleans was an integral part of Louie’s identity, and he was actively involved in the Fraternal Order of Police organization, even serving as a delegate for many years representing the Crescent City Lodge No. 2 at the national convention.  Louie had an adventurous spirit and true appreciation for nature. He climbed mountains and also enjoyed hunting locally and abroad, and eagerly anticipated the opening of every hunting season.

Louie had a kind and generous soul, and was always quick to make friends and share his seemingly endless knowledge on nearly any subject.  Everyone that knew Louie, knew him as our own local Cliff Clavin from Cheers, and we will all dearly miss him, his stories, and all that he had to contribute to any conversation.

Services for Louie will be held on Monday, February 22, 2021 at the Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home located at 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA  70119.  Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by a Catholic mass at 12:15 p.m.  The mass will be streamed live at https://www.oneroomstreaming.com/view/authorise.php?k=1613705422101625.  Interment will be at Hope Mausoleum located at 4841 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA  70119 following mass, at approximately 1:30 p.m.
