Mary Lee Hess Cortes

Mary Lee H. Cortes passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2021 at the age of 77.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Born in New Orleans, she lived there most of her life until she moved to Metairie to be close to her granddaughter. Preceded in death by her parents Charles Hess and Mildred R. Hess and her brother Lloyd Hess. Survived by her loving and devoted husband of 55 years, Wally Cortes, her daughters Melissa (Missy) Marino (Glenn), Nicole Sostarics (Tom), and her granddaughter Chloe Marino. As well as a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. She held various positions in her life, first as a pearl stringer, then as a floral designer and finally retiring as a bookkeeper. She was a very giving person, always willing to help family and friends whenever they needed her. She enjoyed spending time with family, going to the movies, traveling and taking cruises with her husband, as well as going to the casino, going out to eat and playing cootie with her friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at 2 PM on Saturday, February 27, 2021in the J. Garic Schoen Chapel of Jacob Schoen & Son, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA 70119. Visitation will begin at 12 PM. Please practice social distancing and wear a mask.
