On Tuesday, January 15, 2019, our wife, mother, sister, aunt, and best friend was called to Heaven at the young age of 68 surrounded by family. Myra Yvonne Besancon, 68, of Madisonville, Louisiana passed away at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana at 8:55 am.
Myra Yvonne Besancon was born in Sumter, South Carolina to Farrell and Helen Bryan on 9-2-1950. She attended and graduated from Lee High School in Huntsville, Alabama. She attended St. Vincent’s School of Nursing in Birmingham, Alabama where she received her RN License. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from West Texas A&M University, December 1992, in Canyon, Texas and her Master of Science in Management from Florida Institute of Technology, April 1997, in Melbourne, Florida.
Myra worked as a RN floor nurse and charge nurse in several hospitals in Huntsville, Alabama and Atlanta, Georgia, before her nursing leadership career started. She became the Director of Nurses at Caprock Hospital District in Floydada, Texas, VP of Nursing at Rush Health System in Meridian, Mississippi, COO at St. Mary’s Hospital in Enid, Oklahoma, COO at Lakeside Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana and finishing her career at Los Gatos Hospital in San Jose, California as the COO.
Myra is preceded by her father, Farrell Bryan and mother, Helen Bryan; grandmother, Ida Baker and grandfather, Comer Baker.
She is survived by her husband, Danny Besancon; son, Anthony Brocato and wife Amanda Brocato; step-daughters, Kim Bryan and husband Steve Bryan; Barbara Howell and husband Frank Howell; step-son, Rusty Besancon and wife Anita Besancon; brother, Tolbert Bryan and wife Elaine Bryan; niece, Kim Bryan and great niece, Kaitlyn Hamilton and great nephew Jacob Hamilton.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held at the Besancon residence in Madisonville, Louisiana on Saturday, January 19, 2019 from 12-3 pm.
