Nicholas “Nicky” Charles, 26, died Sunday, February 26, 2023 surrounded by his family. Nicholas was a native of New Orleans but lived most of his life in Destrehan, LA.
He is survived by his parents, David and Colleen Charles (Simpson), his brother and best friend Christopher and grandmother Jacqueline Couvillon Charles (Maw Maw), aunts, uncles and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bonnie Abadie Simpson (Grammy), Siguard E Simpson, III (Pampy) and Delton R. Charles (Paw Paw)
Nicholas graduated from Jesuit High School in 2014 and Louisiana State University with a Bachelors of Computer Engineering in 2018. He worked as a software programmer for FAST Enterprises in New York City, NY and Baton Rouge, LA.
While at Jesuit High School, Nicky played baseball and wrestled. As a wrestler, Nicky was a US All-American in 2013 and Louisiana State Runner-up in 2014. The life lessons he learned while wrestling helped him as he fought against Ewing’s Sarcoma.
The family would like to thank so many people, including family and friends that supported Nicky through the last 4 and half years. Also, many thanks to the medical staff members of New York Presbyterian Columbia University in New York City, Dr. Matthew Ingham, Touro Hospital, Dr. George Zachariah, Dr. Ellen Zakris and the nurses and staff of Crescent City Physicians and Touro Infusion Center.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, March 4, 2023 at noon at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Destrehan, LA. Visitation will be held prior to mass beginning at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment will follow the mass in St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like all to consider donating to one of the following organizations: American Cancer Society, United Way of St. Charles Parish and Jesuit High School Wrestling.
