Patrick J. Gunderman

Patrick J. Gunderman died peacefully in his home Thursday June 3, 2021. Joined in love by his mother, wife, children, and relatives, Patrick’s long and courageous battle with cancer has come to a close. Son of Cathleen and the late William Gunderman, he is survived by his wife Jennifer Gunderman (née Raaker); and children Michael Gourley (28), Jacob (25), Nicholas (23), Jessica (22), Natalie (20), and Cassandra Gunderman (10). He is also survived by his brother William Gunderman, and nephew, William Thomas. Patrick enjoyed an exciting seven years residing in New Orleans, Louisiana with his wife and two youngest daughters. He was born in Olean, New York, where he attended Salamanca High School, and graduated from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He was a skilled business leader and led an accomplished 31-year career in finance. Among his many accolades, Patrick most recently served as the Director of Internal Audit at Deepwater Horizon Economic Claims Center in 2014 and earned his position as CEO in 2016. Patrick was deeply dedicated to his family and children, and cherished his role as a father and husband. He was a devout Christian and fostered his faith as a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church. He built his legacy on faith, love, and dedication to God as he led his life with gratitude and generosity. He was an advocate for St. Andrew’s Camp Able and a steady contributor to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. To commemorate his life, he founded an academic scholarship in his name for St. Andrew's Episcopal School. The family will receive friends for a final visitation on Friday, June 11th from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal Street New Orleans, LA 70119. Friends and family are also welcomed for a memorial Mass on Saturday, June 12th at 11 a.m. followed by a reception at 12 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church.
