In Loving Memory of Samuel Joseph Clesi Jr. March 12, 1927 - February 11, 2024 Samuel Joseph Clesi Jr., a beloved father and cherished family man peacefully passed away on February 11, 2024, at the age of 96. Born on March 12, 1927, in New Orleans, Louisiana, Samuel was the son of Samuel Joseph Clesi Sr. and Mary (Michel) Michelena Manale Clesi. Known affectionately as Sam, he grew up surrounded by the rich tapestry of family bonds and values that would shape his remarkable life. His lifetime experiences left an indelible mark on his character, and the lessons learned became guiding principles throughout his life. Sam proudly served his country as a member of the United States Navy during World War II, demonstrating unwavering courage and dedication to duty. His entire professional career spanned decades as an expert mechanic at Beacon Auto Electric on Tulane Avenue. He was also a thoroughbred horse racing enthusiast. He owned and trained horses that raced at the New Orleans Fairgrounds and regional tracks. Sam was preceded in death by his sisters Rita, Madeline, Mary and brothers Charlie and Joe. He is survived by his children: Sonya Clesi DiCarlo (Vick), Carlo Clesi (Holly), and James Clesi. He leaves behind a legacy that extends through the generations, as a proud grandfather to Vick DiCarlo II (Maria), Celia DiCarlo Morgan (Mike), Richard DiCarlo, Camille DiCarlo, Caleb Clesi, Olivia Clesi, and Emma Clesi. Sam also delighted in his role as a great-grandfather to Adell, Vick III, Samuel, Everett, and William. Memorial services are as follows: Monday, February 26th. Visitation for family and friends, 10 am - 12 pm at St. Louis King of France, 1609 Carrollton Ave, Metairie, LA 70005, where he was a beloved parishioner and usher for many decades. Mass will follow directly at 12pm. All are invited to participate in a procession to the Contessa Entellina Society Tomb at Metairie Cemetery. Immediately following will be a celebration of life gathering at CLESI'S seafood restaurant, 4323 Bienville Street, New Orleans, LA 70119 at 1:30 pm. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may the love and memories he bestowed upon his family bring comfort during this time of sorrow. Sam's legacy lives on through the bonds of family he nurtured and the enduring impact of a life well-lived.
