Alfred Alexander Schade, Jr., 90, died Monday, March 29, 2021. Mr. Schade was born in Staten Island, New York and moved with his family to Metairie as a young child where he was a lifelong parishioner of St. Catherine of Siena Church. Mr. Schade graduated from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge as a Mechanical Engineer. While attending LSU, he was a member of the ROTC and upon graduation, he entered the Air Force as a Second Lieutenant. Mr. Schade served in the Air Force for two years. Upon honorable discharge, he began working as a mechanical engineer. Subsequently, he joined Schade and Company Inc. as a Marine Insurance Broker. Mr. Schade was very creative and hard-working. He enjoyed spending weekends on his farm in St. Francisville working and tending to his cattle. Preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Alexander Schade and Frances Gertrude Quinlan Schade, and his sister, Beryl Schade Stuckert. Survived by his wife of 64 years, Joan Joanen Schade, his twin sister, Eleanor Schade Guenther, four children, Eric, Christian, Mary Beth Gerosa (Bruce), and Ann Willhoft (Eric). Also survived by six grandchildren, Marian Ashley Willhoft, Alexandra Willhoft, Caroline Hamilton (Andy), Katherine Gerosa, Stephen Schade, and Olivia Schade, and three great grandchildren. A private funeral mass was officiated by Fr. Timothy Hedrick on April 6, 2021 at St. Catherine of Siena Church with interment at Lake Lawn Park and Mausoleum
