Dale Triguero

May 28, 1953 ~ July 8, 2021 (age 68) 68 Years Old

Tribute

Dale Edward Triguero, aged 68 years, took his final bow on July 8, 2021. A native
of Brooklyn, New York, his colorful and gritty life included taxi driving on the
streets of the Big Apple, playing softball in Central Park, and learning his craft of
acting and performing in theaters in New York City and State. His career took him
to Los Angeles, California, where he continued in theater and movies. Fate
brought him to New Orleans, and he began a long-term love affair with the city he
made his home. He co-owned and operated the Old Point Bar in Algiers, and then,
fifteen years ago, created and crafted Chickie Wah Wah, a bar and sometimes grill,
situated in Mid-City, and considered one of the best live music venues in New
Orleans. In this role he featured local culture – musicians, libations and food – in a
unique and popular setting he carefully curated for ambience, sound and the love
of music. Many memorable events, acts and performances from local, national and
international talent built a loyal fan base, and his continuing devotion to artists
placed him in their regard. Never neutral on any issue, sometimes adversarial and
pursuing a life on his terms, he sometimes had tempestuous relationships with
friends and foes alike, but was also generous, loyal and supportive of those around
him. Travels to Cuba evolved to an effort to endow local painters and musicians
with needed supplies. Quick with a witticism, appreciative of talent and singular in
style, Dale was known for his eclectic taste in and knowledge of all things
performance. He will be missed, and is survived by his significant other Michele
Marcombe, his stepmother Shirley Triguero, two brothers, Roy Triguero (Susan)
and Jason Triguero (Jackie), and nieces and nephews. A celebration of his life is
contemplated but not yet scheduled. As for Chickie Wah Wah, stay tuned. In lieu
