A committed Christian, and a man of steady faith and courage, he was a parishioner at St. Peter Catholic Church in Covington.
Chief Kent was well-respected and appreciated by members of the NOPD for being honest, a hard-worker and a “straight-arrow.” An avid outdoorsman, Dave loved hunting and fishing with friends and family. Most of all, he loved his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Jane Stuebben Kent, who has been his loving caregiver throughout his long illness, and is the father of Shannon M. Prince, John P. (Jay) McGuire III, Michael M. (Mike) McGuire, Robert J. (Bob) McGuire, and the late Joshua Kent. He is the father-in-law of David Dillard, Missy McGuire, Shawn McGuire, and Kelly Kent. “Big D,” as they called him, is the grandfather of Patrick, Molly, Andrew, Jordan, Kent, Miles, and Callan McGuire, Miranda, Elise, Tessa, and Juliet Kent, and the late Parker B. Prince, and the son of the late Frances Gibson and Roland Kent. The family would like to thank David’s excellent caregivers, Elizabeth, Odell, Sarah, Jodie, Gretchen, and Notre Dame Hospice of Covington.
