June Betz Balderas

June Betz Balderas, 90, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away Tuesday, November 30, 2021. June was a native and longtime resident of New Orleans before moving to Slidell in 2004. She was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed cooking, sewing and gardening. When her children were almost teenagers, she worked at several factories in Davenport, Iowa helping her husband while he was in college, and after returning to Louisiana, worked and retired from Schneider Paper Company. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Theresa Betz; her husband of 71 years, Dr. Thomas R. Balderas; brother, Dominique Cazes; and sisters Eleanore Escude, Joyce Miller, Maxine Woodruff and Frances Schlottmann. She is survived by her daughters, Cynthia Hollaway (James/Donny) and Sylvia Darbonne (Mike);  granddaughters, Kimberly Pickett (Dan), Toni Riser (Charlie), and Jamie Hollaway;  great-grandchildren, Nicki and Bayleigh Hollaway, Race and Chloe Putman, Jared, Jada and Jordan Trotter, Jack Pickett; and great-great-granddaughters, Kinsley Alfred and Fefe Trotter; brothers Edward (Buddy) and Peter Betz and sister Althea (Dee) Malbrough, and many beloved nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Notre Dame Hospice and all the staff at Anderson@Summerfield Memory Care for the excellent care given to June in her last days.
